Two-Star General Moving To Fort Lewis

From Staff And Wire Reports

A two-star general with as many as 540 soldiers on staff is being reassigned to this base near Tacoma as part of a military reorganization, Army officials said.

Maj. Gen. Harley Davis, head of the Army Special Forces Command at Fort Bragg, N.C., will become deputy commanding general of the 5th Army this spring following deactivation of the 6th Army at the Presidio in San Francisco, said Maj. Randy Pullen, an Army spokesman at Fort Lewis.

The post covers training and mobilization of Army Reserve and National Guard units in the Northwest region.

Pullen said last week that Davis would take the new position within three months.
