Juanita Suspends Coach
Lake Washington School District officials on Monday placed Juanita High School boys basketball coach Jim McDonald on paid administrative leave while an investigation into “improper conduct” with two former players is conducted, the Journal of American Bellevue reported.
The alleged misconduct includes taking a student to an adult entertainment club in downtown Seattle on Feb. 4, 1994 and making the student watch lewd acts, according to a Seattle police report cited in today’s editions of the Journal American.
The alleged misconduct came to light after the unidentified teenager told a youth counselor about the alleged incident, which occured when the victim was 18 years old and played for McDonald, the newspaper reported.
A second former player also reported an alleged incident to the same youth counselor at a Juanita-area Christian organization. The second alleged incident, which was not mentioned in the police report, was said to have taken place two months ago, the newspaper reported.
District spokesman Dan Youmans on Tuesday would provide no additional details, confirming only that McDonald was on leave and that the district was conducting an investigation.
McDonald, 32, is in his fourth year as a social studies teacher and coach at Juanita. Police have not filed any charges against McDonald.
