Spicing Up Apparel Line

The Lee Apparel Co. of Merriam and one of its sister companies, Nutmeg Mills, are teaming up to launch a line of licensed sports apparel. Both are divisions of the VF Corp. of Wyomissing, Pa.

The line, to be called Lee Sport, will offer jackets, shorts and caps. The National Hockey League, National Basketball Association and National Football League will be represented.

Tim Lambeth, president of the Lee Co., said the line should be a hit with sports fans.

“Just look at what the majority of fans are wearing to the game,” Lambeth said. “Jeans and licensed sports apparel.”

Dan Mac Farlan, president of Nutmeg, said the line also makes sense from his company’s perspective.
