Stoudamire Gets Award
Arizona guard Damon Stoudamire, who scored 71 points in the Wildcats’ victories over California and Stanford, was named the Pacific-10 Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week.
The 5-foot-11 senior had 26 points, 10 assists and six rebounds Thursday in a 99-86 win at California. On Saturday, Stoudamire scored a career-high 45, hitting 7 of 12 3-pointers, in an 89-83 overtime win at Stanford.
His seven 3s tied a school record, and his point total was the highest in the Pac10 since Oregon State’s Gary Payton scored 58 against USC in 1990.
