Chiefs’ Win Streak At Five

Joe Cardarelli’s goal at 9:48 of the second period put the Spokane Chiefs ahead to stay as they extended their winning streak to five games with a 3-1 Western Hockey League victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers Tuesday night.

Cardarelli broke a 1-1 tie as he capped a three-on-one opportunity by drawing Tigers goaltender Paxton Schafer out of the net for his first game-winning goal.

With Chiefs netminder Jarrod Daniel stopping 34 of 35 Tigers shots, that would be all the offense the Chiefs would need.

Randy Favaro smacked home a goal to seal the victory when he followed a Dmitri Leonov shot at 10:58 of the third period.

Medicine Hat, which saw its sixgame winning streak snapped, had tied the game when Brad Wilson’s slap shot beat Daniel to the glove side at 4:18 of the second.

Darren Sinclair had given Spokane a 1-0 lead when he struck just 18 seconds into the second period.

The second straight road win for the Chiefs came at the start of a four-game trip.
