The International Olympic Committee named Salt Lake City as one of four finalists to host the 2002 Olympics.

The full 96-member IOC will decide June 16 whether the 2002 Winter Games will be in Salt Lake; Ostersund, Sweden; Sion, Switzerland, or Quebec.

Former umpire Steve Palermo and former Texas Christian football player Kent Waldrep have merged their foundations to form a new organization - the Midwest regional office of the National Paralysis Foundation.
