Legislative Action

GOVERNOR

No major action.

HOUSE:

Approved and sent to the Senate for further action Initiative 159, which would increase sentences for criminals who commit crimes while carrying a firearm. Bills introduced:

HB1489, to reorganize the State Liquor Control Board but maintain the state monopoly over retail liquor sales.

HB1523, to require that parents be notified of an unemancipated minor’s plan to undergo an abortion.

HB1519, to require that a woman seeking an abortion be given sufficient information that would allow her to make an informed choice between abortion and giving birth.

SENATE

Bills introduced:

SB5589, to increase the minimum wage from $4.90 an hour to $5.25.

SB5596, to allow doctors to help terminally ill patients commit suicide.
