Castlegar Puts Away Braves, 5-2

Five Castlegar players scored goals Saturday as the visiting Rebels beat the Spokane Braves, 5-2, in a Kootenay International Junior Hockey League game between teams with mirror images.

Castlegar is 23-10-2, Spokane 10-23-2.

Greg Kampman scored Spokane’s goals, the first coming 16 minutes into the first period off an assist from Darin Talotti.

Talotti fed Kampman again, this time in the second period, as Spokane took a 2-1 lead.

Castlegar scored three thirdperiod goals.

Eastern Washington’s Joyce Rainwater easily won the 200 meters on the second day of the Moscow-McDonald’s Scoring Invitational, finishing in 24.80 seconds in the Kibbie Dome.

Rainwater beat Washington State sophomore Yashiva Edwards, who finished in 25.0 seconds.

WSU sophomore Kolleen Faires finished third in the triple jump with her indoor best mark of 37-feet, 10.
