How did Eastern Washington defeat Weber State 82-67 in Saturday night’s Big Sky Conference women’s basketball matchup at Reese Court?

The Eagles’ front line of Tina Smith, Kristy Missall and Lori Napier combined for 61 points and 24 rebounds as the Eagles moved into third place in the conference.
It was the third straight Big Sky victory for the Eagles, who improved to 3-2 in the conference and 7-10 overall. Weber State fell to 2-4, 12-6.
Napier finished with 24 points, including 20 in the first half as Eastern led 43-37. The former Medical Lake High School standout also had a game-high 12 rebounds as Eastern held a 45-30 advantage on the boards.
Smith had career highs of 19 points and 10 assists, and Missall added 18 points and five steals.
The Eagles made their first five shots and took a 23-7 lead. The Wildcats cut the margin to six early in the second half, but the Eagles scored seven unanswered points to regain a 13-point bulge.
Eastern led by as many as 18 and no fewer than 11 the rest of the way.

Idaho 78, NAU 73 In Moscow, Idaho, Ari Skorpik led four Vandals in double figures with 19 points as Idaho (2-3, 4-13) beat Northern Arizona (2-4, 10-8) in Big Sky play.
Cathy Payne came off the Idaho bench to score a career high 14 points on 6-for-10 shooting, including 2 for 4 from 3-point range. Kelli Johnson added 12, as did Mindy Rice, who also pulled down 11 rebounds.
“This gets us right back into the thick of things,” said Vandals coach Julie Holt. “Now the key thing is to pick up a split on the road.”
Jenny Shayani and Shaunice Warr led NAU with 14 points apiece.
There were nine lead changes in the game’s first 10 minutes before Idaho took the lead for good, 20-18, on a Johnson basket with 9:47 left in the half. The Vandals stretched their firsthalf lead to as many as 10 before taking a 47-41 edge into the locker room.
Idaho led by as many as 16 in the second half before a 21-8 NAU run brought the Lumberjacks within 72-70 with 1:18 remaining.
Skorpik and Johnson combined to hit 6 of 6 free throws in the final 33 seconds for Idaho.

Whitworth 71, Western Baptist 52 In Salem, Ore., Jen Tissue offset the cold shooting of teammate Annette Sweeney to lead the Pirates (11-11) past the Warriors (12-10).
Tissue, a Shadle Park High graduate, made 8 of 14 field goals while Sweeney, who scored 39 points in a game earlier this month, struggled through a 1-for-14 night en route to five points.
