Ewu Absorbs Fifth Sky Loss

Jimmy DeGraffenried scored 27 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead Weber State to a 72-59 victory over Eastern Washington on Saturday night at the Dee Events Center in Ogden, Utah.

Weber State (4-2 Big Sky, 11-7 overall) never trailed, although the Eagles (0-5, 3-13) tied it five times in the first half, the last time at 20.

The Wildcats then scored 11 straight points, eight by DeGraffenried, for a 31-20 cushion with 2:56 to the break. Weber State led 35-27 at halftime.

Melvin Lewis scored eight of his team-high 14 points during the first 9 minutes of the second half as EWU rallied. Brett Thompson made a layup at the 10:22 mark to bring EWU within 48-45.

But that was as close as EWU would come, as WSU outscored the Eagles 24-14 the rest of the way.
