Glover Eighth-Graders Place Third In Competition
Five students in Elene Jones’ eighth-grade social studies class at Glover Middle School placed third out of 258 teams competing in the Washington State Stock Market Game.
The winning students are: Steve Cumbie, Jonah King, Alex Boone, Justin Mikkelsen and Josh Krahn.
The stock market game is supported by the Washington Council on Economic Education.
Petty Officer 2nd Class Robert Darrington has received a Letter of Commendation for consistently performing his duties in an exemplary manner. He is stationed aboard the submarine USS Honolulu based in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and is a 1990 graduate of Pasco High School.
Ben Williams, a senior at Central Valley High School, has been accepted and nominated to both the Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., and the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.
Ann Swanson, daughter of Mary Swanson, Spokane, has achieved a 4. GPA for the fall semester at Washington State University and was named to the President’s Honor Roll.
The following students have been named to the honor roll for the fall semester at University of Oklahoma, Norman, Okla.:

Jennifer Barker, earned a 4.0 GPA, Richland.
Sally Cartwright, earned a 4.0 GPA, Spokane.
Richard Richmond II, earned a 4.0 GPA, Veradale.
Jennifer Anne Watson, daughter of Ted and Vicky Watson, Coeur d’Alene, recently graduated from the Intercollegiate Center for Nursing Education and Whitworth College. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.
The following students have excelled during the winter quarter at Southwest Baptist University, Bolivar, Mo.:
Shawna Penn, daughter of Marvin and Beverly Wright, Spokane, was named to the Trustee’s List. She is a 1991 graduate of Valley Christian High School and a senior majoring in music education.
Pamela Stewart, daughter of Phillip Stewart, Spokane, has been named to the President’s List. She is a sophomore majoring in elementary education.
