You’ll pardon the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels if they can’t tell their basketball coach without a scorecard.

They began the school year with Rollie Massimino, then came Tim Grgurich, then Howie Landa and now Cle Edwards.

Once a national powerhouse, the Rebel program is now down to its last two assistant coaches.

The latest jolt came during the weekend when Landa announced he was stepping down as acting coach. Landa has been subbing for Grgurich, who left the team Jan. 6 and entered a California hospital, complaining of medical problems related to exhaustion.

Montana State junior forward Quadre Lollis and Weber State senior forward Kirk Smith are the Big Sky Conference men’s basketball players of the week. xxxx
