Cheney Cowles Museum Has Plenty To Keep Kids Busy, Entertained

As part of the summerlong exhibition “Rivers and Dams: Promises, Progress and Peril,” the Cheney Cowles Museum is offering a special slate of children’s activities each Wednesday, Friday and Saturday through September.

Museum officials have dubbed the program J.U.M.P., or Junior Users Museum Program. All activities are on the museum grounds, weather permitting.

July’s schedule, which is included below, is subject to the following requirements:

Activities are limited to ages 6 and above (and some are limited to ages 8 and above);

There is no pre-registration (except for July 19);

Fees are $1 (except as noted);

Each group is limited to 15 participants (except for July 19), and each activity is scheduled to between one and two hours in length. For further information, call the museum, 2316 W. First, at 456-3931.

Wednesday, July 5

10-11 a.m., storyteller, Jennilynn Weight (Free)

1-3 p.m., How fish swim/make a fish

1-3 p.m., Electricity: Simple Circuits (ages 8 and up)

2-3 p.m., Cartoon Caper: Salmon Life Cycle

Wednesday, July 19 (This project done by volunteers for The Children’s Museum of Spokane
