Devils, Jersey Close To A Deal

The New Jersey Devils and their landlord worked more than 18 hours Monday and Tuesday to put the final touches on a new lease that will keep the Stanley Cup champions in the state at least through 2007.

“The parties left the table tonight believing there’s only one more meeting left,” a source close to the talks told The Associated Press.

However, attorneys were still working on the lease Tuesday night, and officials for both sides weren’t ready to say the deal was done and Nashville, Tenn., would have to find some other team to call its own.
