School Board Panel To Study Split

The Bonner County School Board is forming a committee to research whether the school district should split into two districts, create three subdistricts or remain as one large district.

The move came during Tuesday night’s board meeting after citizens presented a petition demanding that the district be split into three subdistricts.

The board tabled the petition and instead agreed to research the idea. The committee will report back to the school board in two months.

Anyone wishing to serve on the committee can call the board chairman, Brent Baker, at 263-9550 or the board clerk at 263-2184.An attempt to pass a levy for that amount failed in May. The levy was designed to provide the money needed to build an elementary school in Kootenai.
