Escaping From The Pain
If there’s one way that men and women are truly similar, it’s in their desire for pain-free living. Only our methods of soothing that pain seem different.
As the millennium draws to a close, technology offers us more and varied means of fleeing from pain in all its forms - physical, emotional, imaginary, etc. Many are effective, but only for a while. Some don’t work at all.
But here’s what looks like a first: A husband-wife team who will be visiting Spokane this week claims to be able to help you solve your problems “instantaneously.”
Say again, “instantaneously.”
Roger and Karen LaChance claim that their “Body/Mind/2000-plus Release Method” - which is based on the theory that “old-cell memories” are the cause of such ailments as illness, aging and unhappiness - will, no matter what the problem, work “instantaneously.”
The LaChances will be at the Sandpoint Gardenia Center tonight at 6.
On Thursday and Friday, they will be at the North Spokane Library at 6:30 p.m.
Admission is $8, $10 at the door.
Not bad for an “instant” cure.

The natural way: David Sharp and his friends aren’t offering any quick solutions to your problems. But they are offering a “natural” method to deal with them.
“Imagine a beautiful fertile meadow - green with a vibrancy that resonates every cell in your body,” Sharp writes. “See the wooded areas surrounding this peaceful meadow, then see the gently flowing Pend Oreille River wending its way north alongside the verdant meadow.”
I give bonus points to anyone who uses the word “verdant.”
Anyway, Sharp is one of the associates of spiritual therapist Pat Turner, who runs Star Willow Retreats. It is at this “creative center,” which Sharp describes as a “virtual Garden of Eden,” that a retreat titled “Going Beyond Bounds” will be held on July 28-30.
“Going Beyond Bounds,” Sharp writes, is designed to “give people hands-on experience in wholistic techniques and activities to rejuvenate and positively transform their self-perceptions - to renew that primal instinct of all human beings to reach for the stars, to continually expand our inner self and quick our growth toward new levels of awareness.”
