Small Temblors Felt East Of Seattle

Two small earthquakes rattled suburbs east of Seattle, the University of Washington geophysics center said.

The first occurred at 7:41 p.m. Friday and had a magnitude of 2.7. The second, with a magnitude of 3.1, struck at 7:36 a.m. Saturday and was reportedly felt by a few people in the Bellevue-Kirkland area.

Both quakes were centered a little more than a mile north of Bellevue and about four miles south of Kirkland.

An earthquake of 3.5 magnitude can cause slight damage in a local area.
