Scholarships, Awards Earned By College Students

Several Inland Northwest students and graduates won scholarships and awards at the end of the school year.

Western Washington University, Bellingham, awarded scholarships to Andrew Richardson, James Lake and Jason Yada, $1,000 President’s Scholarships; Jeffrey Burningham, $1,700 Alumni Board Scholarship; Tammie Slater, $500 R.D. Brown Memorial Scholarship. The students are all of Spokane.

Jonathan Marquiss, Greenacres, and Alisha Bayley, Spokane, $1,000 R. Robert Dale Scholarships from Moose International, Inc.

Suzie Murphy, Pullman, $6,000 from Idaho State University.

Eastern Washington University awarded Christine Bauer, $400; Cynthia Schluter, $600; Jessica Harnish, $600; Andrea Sinclair, $1,000; and David Johnson, $600; all of Spokane, the Charles P. Lund Music Scholarship; and Diana Sanger, Student Leadership Award.

Shanna Mabie, Jason Morgan, Travis Ruhl, Kelly Stewart, Tamara Tifft, Nick Vieth, J. Luke Wild and Mark Wild, $1,500 scholarships from CPM Development Corp.

Lorri Taylor and Gil Miltenberger, Spokane, free tuition for its CI-101 course from Inland Northwest Chapter of Certified Commercial Investment Members.

Beth Breidenbach, Cheney, $1,500 from Microsoft-Hopper Scholarship from Microsoft Corp.

Karen Barnard, Cheney, $2,000 Presidential, $1,000 Alumni Award and a $600 Talent Music Award, all from Eastern Washington University, $500 from Farmers and Merchants Bank, $500 from Beta Sigma Phi sorority, $200 from Cheney High School Spanish Club.

Tarra Borden, Veradale, U.S. National Award winner in history and government; $500 from University City.

Michele Weinman, Spokane, 1995 Spokane Home Builders Association’s Kim Momb Scholarship.

The Aurora Northwest Rotary Club awarded Farrah Klobucher and Ryan Groshon, both of Mead, $600 each; Michelle Sanders, Amy Neilson and Aimee Canham, all of Spokane, $600 each; Elizabeth Kercher, Mead, $350; Laura Steiger and Kimberly Wohl, Spokane, both $350.

Melissa Holcomb, Spokane, a four-year U.S. Army ROTC Scholarship in Nursing at Pacific Lutheran University.

Ch’n’na Allen, Spokane, Kathryn Buder Scholarship at George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University, St. Louis, Mo.

Debbie Marcoux, A.I. Myers Award, and Mary Ulibarri, Richard Englund Award; from Spokane Falls Community College Art Department.

Ethan Vodde, Spokane, $13,344 annually for four years at DePauw University, Greencastle, Ind., by the school.

Barbara Casort, Spokane, Adult Degree Completion Scholarship from Aid Association for Lutherans; $500 Spokane District Dental Society Scholarship; $750 Lona Hulbush Jacobs Scholarship from Washington State Dental Hygentist’s Association.

Nathan Sandoval, Paul Bell, Scott Dalrymple and Barbara Wight, Washington Award for Vocational Excellence Scholarships, Spokane Community College.
