Dworshak Spits Out Kokanee

Anglers who tried the night shift on Dworshak Reservoir near Orofino last weekend enjoyed hot kokanee fishing, with some limits reported.

Catch rates at times of well over two fish per hour drew both day and night fishermen to the 17,000-acre reservoir. An Idaho Department of Fish and Game creel census recorded the best success between Dent Bridge and Grandad Bridge, with the action mostly toward Dent.

Evening fishermen reported the best luck, vertical jigging with glowin-the-dark hooks on ultralight tackle. Fishermen found most of the kokanee at depths of around 40 feet, similar to the week before.
