Vatican: Nudes On Ceiling, Not On Floor

Compiled From Wire Services

Nudes may be OK in the Sistine Chapel, but the Vatican says they don’t belong on fashion runways.

The official Vatican newspaper published an appeal Saturday for less flesh in fashion shows, condemning recent nudity on the runways.

“Nothing can justify an act … so ethically reprehensible and rationally disgusting,” theologian Gino Concetti wrote in L’Osservatore Romano.

“The nude, which once was relegated to life behind closed doors, has acquired the function of aiding the fashion world, of being an instrument of publicity to gain attention for their products.”

An American model, Charles Andrews, appeared naked during Valentino’s Paris couture show this month.
