Flash Floods Leave Many Dead, Missing
Flash floods have wreaked havoc in Pakistan’s southern Sind province, where at least 110 people have been killed and hundreds more are missing.
The government declared a state of emergency and rushed troops to the province, newspapers reported Sunday.
Most of the flooding was caused by a major dam that had overflowed because of several days of torrential rains, washing away whole villages, the Dawn newspaper reported. Water was up to 14 feet deep in some places.
More than 50,000 people were left marooned in hundreds of villages, with roads blocked and communications cut.
