The Slice Grass May Be Greener Now But The Air Is Cooler Then
As you know, it’s against the law in the Spokane area to express muted enthusiasm for summer.
Ya gotta love it.
But we have heard that some people are quietly celebrating the fact September is only 40 days away. They prefer fall. And they know stores will be putting up Halloween decorations any day now.
Kids and flying: “Travelling to Malaysia took 28 hours, with our longest leg being 18 hours,” wrote Eric and Julie Lee. “Fourteen hours into our longest leg, our 2-1/2-year-old decides it’s time for a walk OUTSIDE.”
They compromised and strolled around inside the plane.
Gratitude: A diner in a Spokane Valley restaurant recently got food stuck in his windpipe. His waitress helped with the rescue. Then the diners went back to having dinner.
Nobody had any complaints about the meal, said a restaurant employee (not the waitress) who witnessed it.
The bill came to $62. The tip: $2.
Do you know where your car is: The Honda Accord leads the list of most frequently stolen automobiles, according to a survey cited by The Wall Street Journal.
Waiting: When Jarim Walter turned 3, his mom asked him what he wanted. “To be 5,” he answered.
Already thinking ahead to kindergarten, T-ball and other bigkid pleasures, he is convinced that’s when life really gets interesting.
Last word on flipping off: “The thing is, a lot of the people it happens to, they deserve it,” said Craig Casey.
Found money: A recent item about a check discovered in a coat prompted Colfax’s Jeanette Nolan to tell us about something her late mother did. She bought a pair of shorts at a charity-run thrift store. And when she got home, she found a $20 bill in one of the pockets.
You guessed it. She gave the money back to the charity.
Today’s Slice question: How long does it take drivers of music-playing ice cream trucks to go insane?
