Rohde Wins A Second Straight Pro-Am
Mark Rohde was the man of the hour again Monday in the Washington Trust Bank Pro-Am.
The Spokane professional, playing for his own golf studio, put together a 31-33 for a 7-under-par 64 at Manito Country Club to win his second Pro-Am in a row.
“I played great, but I started playing too conservatively,” said Rohde, who won last week with a course-record 65 at Hidden Lakes. “I started lagging putts because the greens were still so pure even though we teed off at 2 o’clock.
“It could have been much better.”
It was good enough for a four-shot margin over Indian Canyon assistant Tom Conlon (32-36).
Amateur Monte Best, who usually plays in the gross division, also shot a 68, but he opted to play net this time. The 6-handicapper had to share first in the 0-8 division with an adjusted score of 64, five shots below the course rating.
Six of the 55 pros and two of the 211 amateurs bettered par.
Rohde and Best helped Rohde’s golf studio to a 1-shot win in the team competition.
Next in the series will be the Pro-Junior Monday at Indian Canyon.
