Fifth Group Wants To Form New City

From Staff And Wire Reports

(From For the Record, Tuesday, June 6, 1995): The proposed city of Evergreen in the Spokane Valley would stretch east to the Idaho-Washington state line. A Saturday article gave the wrong border.

The rush to incorporate the Spokane Valley in bits and chunks continues.

Another group of Valley residents, the fifth this week, has informed county commissioners that it wants to form its own city.

The city of Evergreen would be home to nearly 26,000 in the currently unincorporated areas bounded by the Spokane River, 32nd Avenue, Evergreen and Barker roads.

Vivienne Latimer submitted the group’s notice of proposed incorporation Thursday.

Proponents of the cities of Opportunity, Dishman, Hillcrest Park and Park Place put commissioners on notice earlier this week.

All told, the five cities would be home to nearly 83,000 people and would stretch from the Spokane city limits on the west to Barker Road on the east. , DataTimes
