Irving Restad Spokane

A private family service for Irving Restad, 83, will be held. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements., Mr. Restad, who was born in Seattle, died Monday. He had been a resident of Spokane for 55 years.

He and his wife owned a dairy store in Spokane starting in 1949 and he retired in 1962. He worked for Holy Family Hospital and Southcrest Nursing Home for eight years.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Restad of Spokane; one son, Ronald Restad of Canyon Lake, Calif.; one daughter Carol Fuller of Spokane; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.

Gary Maurer Spokane

Memorial Service for Gary L. Maurer, 40, will be at 1 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Cremation was planned.

Mr. Maurer, a lifetime resident of Spokane, died Wednesday.

He was a member of the Spokane Board of Realtors. He had worked as a real estate agent for Re/Max of Spokane.

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Valli Maurer of Spokane; two sons, Corby and Garett Maurer, both of Spokane; one daughter, Breanne Maurer of Spokane; his mother, Ruth Maurer of Spokane; four brothers, Howard, Chuck and Craig Anderson, all of Spokane, and Larry Maurer of Great Falls, Mont.; and two sisters, Sherri Maurer of Round Rock, Texas, and Ada Maurer of Seattle.

Helen Danforth Spokane

Private family service for Helen M. Danforth, 97, is pending. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Danforth, who was born in Kansas, died Wednesday. She had been a Spokane resident for 77 years.

Mrs. Danforth volunteered her time for more than 50 years with the Day Out for the Blind.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, in 1974.

She is survived by her daughter, Peg Zimmerman of Spokane; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Arthur Ivy Deer Park

Private service for Arthur Everett Ivy, 79, will be held Monday. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace Cemetery. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ivy, who was born in Minneola, Kan., died Thursday.

He was a member of the Independent Order of Foresters.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona, in 1979.

He is survived by his son, Robert Ivy of Deer Park; one daughter, Peggy Edmonson of Spokane; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Dennis ‘Hen’ Hendricks Spokane

A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held Monday for Dennis M. “Hen” Hendricks, 50. The gathering will be from 10 a.m. until noon at the Stockyards Inn. Private inurnment will precede the gathering.

Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hendricks, who was born in Hayward, Calif., died Wednesday. He was a Spokane resident for 49 years and graduated from North Central High School.

He was a national junior bowling champion in 1959.

He had worked for McGinnis Independent Paper Co. for the past 27 years.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Velez Hendricks; one daughter, Desiree Ann; two grandchildren; his father, Carl Hendricks; his mother, Alma Denney; four sisters, Karlene Brown, Christina Richardson, Annette Hendricks and Teresa Talon; and two brothers, Andrew and Matthew Hendricks.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Spokane.

Sam Bass Newport, Wash.

Memorial service for Sam Bass, 52, is set for 11 a.m. Monday at Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash. Private inurnment will precede the service.

Mr. Bass, who was born in Wyondote, Mich., died Monday.

He had lived in Pend Oreille County for 18 years and had been employed as a machinist at Albeni Falls Machine Shop in Oldtown, Idaho.

Survivors include one son, Kip Bassett of California; two daughters, Stacey Sundberg of California and Laura Estes of Florida; his mother, Kay Bassett of Michigan; one sister, Ty King of Pennsylvania; and one brother, Mark Bassett of Germany.

Delores Ferderer Weirton, W.V.

Service for Delores “Dee” J. Ferderer, 61, is set for 11 a.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Weirton, W.V. Greco-Hertwick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ferderer, who was born in Burgettstown, Pa., died Thursday.

She had lived in Spokane from 1958 to 1993 and was a bookkeeper at the Moose Lodge in Spokane.

Survivors include two sisters, Bertha Love of Weirton and Alice Kundrat of Hyattsville, Md.; two brothers, Howard Ivill of Morgantown, W.V., and Samuel Ivill of Charlotte, N.C.; and two stepdaughters, Penny Nielson of Sheridan, Wyo., and Connie Anderson of Australia.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church in Weirton or the Weirton Medical Center Auxiliary.

Laurence Hurt Coeur D’Alene

Service for Laurence S. Hurt, 43, is pending. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hurt, a lifetime resident of Coeur d’Alene, died Sunday.

He was a carpenter and mechanic who loved fishing and antique cars. He graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School.

Survivors include one son, Derrick Hurt of Coeur d’Alene; one daughter, Destiny Hurt of Coeur d’Alene; his mother, Eleanor Palmer-Hurt of Coeur d’Alene; one brother, Randy Hurt of Hayden, Idaho; one sister, Pamela Gearheart of Coeur d’Alene; and several nieces and nephews.

William Randall Silverton, Idaho

Private family memorial service for William J. “Bill” Randall, 92, will be held at a later date. Shoshone Funeral Service and Crematory, Wallace, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Randall, a former railroad machinist, died Thursday at Shoshone Medical Center, Kellogg.

He was born in Lethbridge, Alberta. He retired from the railroad in 1958 and worked for the state hospital in Anaconda, Mont., until his retirement. He was an active member of senior citizen groups and was an avid fisherman.

His wife, Vivian, died in 1981.

Survivors include two nephews, Frank Randall of Memphis, Tenn. and Terry Randall of Spokane; three nieces, Miriam McKim of Prichard, Idaho, Lillian Longhofer of Deer Park, and Susan Hansen of Spokane; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Randall of Spokane; and one brother-in-law, Warren Farmer of Phoenix.

Ollie Williams Spokane

Visitation for Ollie Williams, 45, is set for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Cremation will follow.

Mr. Williams, who was born in Blytheville, Ark., died last Saturday.

He was a longtime resident of Spokane and had worked as a groomer at Playfair Race Course.

He is survived by four brothers, Charlie Williams Jr. of Chicago, Roy Williams of Peoria, Ill., Ettric Williams of Elkhart, Ind., and Jimmie Williams of Spokane; and three sisters, Charlene Bells, Cazata Williams and Zada Mae Williams, all of Peoria, Ill.
