Police Arrest Man After Apartment Burglary

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Spokane man was arrested Friday night after a burglary was reported in an apartment building basement.

Michael R. O’Neill, 41, of 2212 W. Mallon, was booked into the Spokane County Jail on second-degree burglary, resisting arrest and an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court. He is being held on $150 bond.

A tenant of the apartment building at 2028 W. Fourth called police about 10:20 p.m. An officer went into a hallway and saw a man later identified as O’Neill coming out of a storage area, said police spokesman Dick Cottam.

O’Neill tried to run away, but the officer caught and handcuffed him, Cottam said. A tenant said he had watched O’Neill enter and leave the storage area several times.
