See, There Definitely Is Life After The Age Of 40

Compiled By Staff Writer Dan Web

Age, you would presume, brings wisdom. But a quick look around is bound to disabuse you of that notion.

That’s what Cybill Shepherd was addressing when the 46-year-old actress began talking recently about her dating habits.

“Not that I have anything against younger men,” she said, “but I don’t think men - or women - get really interesting until after 40. And the stupid thing is, men - when they’re 40 or 50 - go for the 20-year-old girls. Well, it doesn’t work out in most cases, does it?”

But hasn’t she ever, well, lusted for young flesh? Say, the flesh of a 20-something heartthrob such as Brad Pitt?

“I’ve been through the younger-man phase, sure,” she said. “So, Brad Pitt? Yeah, he’s OK. But I don’t have wet dreams about him.”

Loose talk

Actress Heather Locklear on the proper way for a man to serenade a woman: “You don’t need to play guitar or have a good voice to do it properly. You just need your heart in the right place. A dumb song and a bad voice can be really sweet.”

At 40, he’ll be Kenneth with a full last name

Kenny G turns 39 today.

Remember, Grasshopper, it’s pronounced ‘ee-pit-oh-mee’

Referring to the squabble that estranged bedmates Richard Gere and Cindy Crawford once had over pronunciation of the word epitome, Knight-Ridder columnist Cheryl Levenbrown posed this rhetorical question about the Buddhist Gere’s irritation: “What is the sound of one hand clapping to the forehead in disgust?”

They tried to bail out the Titanic, too

Richard Pryor likes to describe the multiple sclerosis ravaging his body as “a blessing.” “It’s a blessing, actually, because if I didn’t have this I’d be smoking it up,” he told the Los Angeles Daily News. “I’d be snorting it up. I don’t snort no more, and I don’t like to smoke no more.”

Not to mention the name of a bedroom furniture store

GQ magazine, annoyed by the Jeffrey Katzenberg-David Geffen-Steven Spielberg venture called “Dreamworks SKG,” came up with 50 better uses of the term. Among the 50: A volume of inspirational sayings and verse with an introduction by Marla Maples Trump, Cheryl Tiegs’ junior separates collection at Sears and an Ice Capades show featuring lasers, the Berenstain Bears and an by Oksana Baiul.

How does junior explain that one to his parents?

“Lois and Clark” star Teri Hatcher has become a popular cyberspace pinup. According to Entertainment Weekly, a photo of Hatcher dressed only in a Superman cape has been downloaded on the Internet more than 20,000 times in six months. “It’s a great shot,” Hatcher says. “Not so much because it’s me. It’s just cool-looking.”

But we bet that blond mane of hers is for real

And this from NBC late-night talk-show host Conan O’Brien: “Pamela Anderson today told reporters she has breast implants. She also revealed the ocean is salty and the sun is wicked hot.”
