Central Baptist Holding Final Craft Get-Together

Ward Sanderson Correspondent

If you want to try out all the new skills you learned at Art Fest!, here’s your chance.

Central Baptist Church, 19 W. Shannon, will host a craft day Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., its final craft get-together of the season. The idea is to give artists and artisans alike a chance to show off, and finish, their creations.

“They bring their own projects they’ve been working on,” church spokeswoman Evelyn Baldwin said. “It’s kind of like an old-fashioned sewing bee.”

There’s more than sewing, though. People can work on oil painting, drawing, crochet, pottery - anything.

It’s more than just an art and craft event, too.

“It’s fellowship,” Baldwin said.

Food and conversation are definitely part of the equation. Anyone interested in attending should bring a sack lunch.

Also, there’s still time to sign up for Central Baptist’s Summer Sunday School. It’s not just for children; anyone age 6 to adult is invited.

Described by Baldwin as “activity-oriented,” the classes will merge studying the Bible with walks, drawing, craft fun and discussion.

Classes start June 18 at 9:15 a.m. The session will continue until July 9.

New member brunch

North Hill Christian Church, located at the corner of Post and Wellesley, will have a brunch for new and prospective members on Sunday.

“We have 13 new members joining, but anyone is welcome,” church spokeswoman Darlene Brewer said.

The brunch starts at 11:15 a.m., just after the church’s 10 a.m. worship service.

There’s no charge for the brunch. Brewer said it’s a way to say hello to the new members, and to give anyone who is interested in the church a chance to meet people attending.

Preschool Bible school

First Assembly of God, 828 W. Indiana, is currently accepting registrations for its Preschool Ark Park, a vacation Bible school. The classes are for children age 2 to first grade.

This year’s class theme is “Small World.” The classes are free, and run from June 19 to 22. Sessions last from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
