Global Federal Credit Union jumped to a 14-4 lead and held on to beat Maxwell House 16-14 in the first game of an American Legion baseball doubleheader at Shadle Park’s Al K. Jackson Field Monday night.

Preston Ashe hit two homers for GFCU, including a three-run shot in a four-run first inning.

Justin Williams hit a grand slam in the fifth to close the deficit to 16-12.

At Central Valley, Steve Sander had two hits, scored two runs and drove in two as Olympic Sports knocked off West Valley Boosters 8-4.

At Cheney, Spokane Federal Credit Union blanked Key Bank 10-0. Brian Miller and Gil Pierce had two hits apiece for SFCU.

At Gonzaga University, Joe Dunsmoor went 3 for 3 with two RBIs as Chapter 11 downed Washington Trust Bank 10-5.
