Hispanic Affairs Director Selected
Washington Gov. Mike Lowry on Tuesday appointed an Oregon official, Roberto Reyes-Colon, as director of the state Commission on Hispanic Affairs.
Reyes-Colon, a native of Puerto Rico, has been program coordinator for Oregon’s Immigration Coordinating Committee since 1989. Before that, he worked for U.S. Rep. Les AuCoin, D-Ore., and for the Portland Human Relations Commission.
Reyes-Colon was the favored nominee of the 11-member commission. He succeeds threeyear director Jerry Martinez, who was a finalist for reappointment. The job pays $48,075 a year.
“Roberto is a dynamic administrator with a proven track record of efficiency and organization,” the governor said. “The commissioners and I are very excited about bringing him on board.”
