Officials Find Car Used In Abduction
Authorities have recovered a vehicle used in the abduction of a Stevens County couple on Monday.
Malcolm and Jill Friedman were forced from their home near Colville by an armed gunman, then left unharmed at Country Cousin Barbeque on North Division.
The robber drove off in the Friedman’s 1994 Toyota 4Runner. About 6 p.m., the couple called authorities from the restaurant.
Later, their vehicle was found in a parking lot at Division and Lincoln Road.
The suspect is described as white, 5-foot-6, with a mustache.
Monday evening, Spokane County sheriff’s deputies were concerned about differences in the victims’ stories.
“We’re progressing with this as a valid, legitimate report,” Stevens County Sheriff Craig Thayer said Tuesday.
Thayer is asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect. Anyone with information about the incident can call (800) 572-0947.
