Storms Damage State Cherry Crop

From Staff And Wire Reports

High winds and rain in the Yakima Valley have taken their toll on the cherry crop, growers and packers say.

Early-season fruit “pack-outs” - tallies of how many loads of fruit were sorted, graded and packaged - have not been good, said Gary Bailey, a warehouse manager in Zillah.

Pack-outs indicate how much fruit was considered good enough for shipment and how much was discarded because of damage.
