Post To Close For Soap Box Derby

Saturday’s Soap Box Derby will close the Post Street hill Saturday to traffic from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Organizers say Post Street will be shut down between Garland and Buckeye. Drivers should use either Monroe or Division during those hours.

The competition will feature 31 kids, and there will be 138 races down the hill in the double-elimination tournament.

Events are also being planned by the neighborhood in Corbin Park, and observers can watch the races from along the sidewalks, in green spaces or at the bottom of the hill, organizer Chris Bovey said.
