Sage, Smith, Sahnow Smash Stars

The majority of Global Federal Credit Union’s runs came from three players as it defeated the KC Stars 13-5 at Shadle Park in American Legion baseball Saturday.

Andy Sage hit a three-run homer while teammate Adam Sahnow drove in three and Nate Smith two.

M&L Construction beat the East Valley Boosters 10-5 as M&L’s John Barneson went 3 for 4 with 4 RBIs.

With M&L clinging to a 5-4 lead, Barneson hit a three-run double to break the game open.

Larry Carnahan went five innings and scattered five hits while striking out four.

At the Wenatchee Junior Tournament, Spokane Federal Credit Union, a senior Legion team, defeated Moses Lake 10-0 and Wenatchee 12-0.

In SFCU’s first game, Brian Maley threw a onehitter and helped his own cause by hitting a double and a triple.

In Spokane Federal’s second game, Pat Stiffler had three hits.

SFCU pitcher Gil Pierce gave up a hit, struck out six and walked four.

There are nine teams participating in the three-day tournament at Wenatchee’s Recreation Park.
