The Hot Seat A Weekly Look At People And Issues In The News

Take your tent and boat to Idaho this summer

Except for The Hot Seat, you can’t believe what you read in the paper. Especially the glowing stories about Lake Roosevelt. Heed the advice of Hot Seat outdoor experts and DON’T GO CAMPING AT LAKE ROOSEVELT. You won’t like it. It rains 365 days a year. The skeeters draw more blood than the Red Cross. The scrubby pines are infested with gangs of giant Anaconda attack ticks. There are rhinocerous beetles everywhere. And the area near the confluence of the Spokane and Columbia rivers is inhabited by vicious side hill gougers. Don’t go. The camping is lousy. Go to Idaho.

Leave Bill alone and he’ll self destruct

Bill Clinton toked on another exploding cigar this week courtesy of the White House security staff. In a courageous effort to blindly follow the liberal agenda he invited gay leaders to the White House for a conference. But the presidential security servants blew it for Bill by treating the leaders like lepers. While checking the personal belongings of the gay leaders the security staff wore rubber gloves. The leaders got their diapers in a wad over it and Clinton ended up apologizing for a dumb mistake, again.

Loomis needs a lesson in common sense

U.S. District Judge Justin Quackenbush is taking Loomis Armoured Inc. to task for firing Kevin Gardner, and rightly so. Gardner is the guy who jumped out of his armoured car and helped rescue a woman who was being held at knifepoint. However, in all the excitement he left the Loomis loot unguarded and the company fired him. Gardner is suing and Loomis is foolishly fighting it. They should toss a couple of money bags to Gardner and consider themselves lucky. No telling what damages a jury would level against an out-of-state company that fires and abuses a local hero.
