Zoo Officials To Try Breeding Gorilla

Ivan the gorilla will have his first date with two females June 26, Zoo Atlanta officials said.

The zoo will place the 400-pound silverback gorilla in the same cage with females Molly and Kuchi in the hope that breeding might take place, zoo officials said Friday.

The actual introduction will take place out of public view.

Ivan had been caged in a Tacoma shopping mall for nearly 30 years before he was brought to Zoo Atlanta last year.
