Norway Wins World Cup

Norway scored two first-half goals within 3 minutes and held off European soccer champion Germany 2-0 to win the final of the women’s World Cup competition.

Hege Riise and Marianne Pettersen scored for Norway, which finished as runner-up to the United States in the inaugural world championship four years ago in China.
