Boise State University says it was wrong when it announced Tuesday that Damon Archibald, a two-year starter on the basketball team, was academically ineligible and won’t return for his senior season.

“After further review of Archibald’s academic status, he is academically eligible for the upcoming season,” the school said Wednesday. “Archibald is only leaving Boise State for reasons unrelated to academics.”

Colombia and Mexico played the first scoreless tie of U.S. Cup ‘95 in front of 20,432 noisy fans at RFK Stadium in Washington.

The tie means the United States, 2-0 in the event, needs just a tie with Colombia on Sunday to win the tournament.

Team Saturn rider Jeanne Golay took her first victory of the 1995 PowerBar International Women’s Challenge in the 70.7-mile Burley, Idaho, bicycle road race in a time of 3 hours, 1 minute and 5 seconds.

Golay, who has made the podium in seven of eight stages of the race, made her move on the field Wednesday during a pack sprint to the finish line.
