Helen Jacobs Uniontown, Wash.

Rosary service for Helen Margaret Jacobs, 90, is planned for 7:30 p.m. today at St. Boniface Church in Uniontown. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church with burial to follow at St. Boniface Cemetery. Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jacobs, who died Monday, was born in Uniontown.

She worked as a clerk in several Uniontown businesses.

She was a charter member of Uniontown American Legion Auxiliary and St. Boniface Catholic Church and Altar Society.

Her husband, George Jacobs, died in 1966.

Mrs. Jacobs survivors include two sons, Harvey Jacobs of Uniontown and Richard Jacobs of Spokane; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Louis Herrbach Medical Lake

Funeral Mass for Louis J. Herrbach, 68, is set for 11 a.m. today at St. Anne Catholic Church in Medical Lake with burial at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Ball and Dodd Medical Lake Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Herrbach died Monday.

He was born in Idaho and graduated from Nampa High School and Gonzaga University.

He served in the Army during World War II and was a store director for Albertsons in Idaho for 25 years. He retired in 1979.

Mr. Herrbach had lived in Medical Lake for 16 years.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Athletic Round Table.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Pauly Herrbach; two sons, Stephen and Paul Herrbach, both of Spokane; three daughters, Barbara Neder of Medical Lake, Cynthia Hart of Vancouver, Wash., and Sally Hillebrandt of Spokane; one sister, Polly Sproul of Boise; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane or the American Cancer Society.

Etta May Di Curcio Spokane

Graveside service for Etta May (Vandever) Di Curcio, 83, will be at 2 p.m. today at Pines Cemetery. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Di Curcio, who was born in Forest City, Mo., died Sunday.

She had worked in computer assembly and had lived in Spokane for 16 years.

She is survived by one daughter, Angela Blakesley of Spokane; one son, Michael Di Curcio of Las Vegas, Nev.; one sister, Flossie Jabusch of Maryville, Mo.; one brother, Sam Vandever of Torrance, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

James ‘Bill’ Fox Spokane

Service for James W. “Bill” Fox, 81, will be at noon Friday at the Relief Society Room of the Evergreen Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. Burial will be at Pines Cemetery. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Fox, who died Tuesday, was born in Davenport, Wash.

He owned Fox Milling Co., from 1939 until 1984 and since 1970 was involved with real estate development.

He was a bishop and counselor in the stake presidency for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He had lived in Spokane for 75 years.

Mr. Fox is survived by his wife of 56 years, Edra Fox; one daughter, Marilyn Young of Mesa, Ariz.; two sons, James and Charles Fox, both of Veradale; 18 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Norman Nelson Davenport, Wash.

Service for Norman Nelson, 81, was held Wednesday at Trinity Bible Fellowship Church in Davenport.

Mr. Nelson, who died Saturday, was born in Edwall, Wash.

He graduated from Reardan High School and was a retired machinist for a publishing company.

He served in the Navy during World War II and was a charter member of the Davenport Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of Trinity Bible Fellowship Church.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Margaret Nelson; and one sister, Marian Hagan of Kalispell.

Dr. Walter Thurston St. Maries

Service for Dr. Walter Dyce Thurston, 76, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Maries High School gymnasium. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Thurston died Tuesday from injuries he suffered while helping a stranded motorist near Worley, Idaho.

He was born in Wheatland, Wyo., in 1919. As a young man he moved to Rapid City, S.D., and graduated from high school there in 1936. He then attended the South Dakota School of Mines.

He finished his premedical training at Denver University and graduated from the University of Colorado School of Medicine.

He served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War.

He married Bobby Kroeger in Denver in 1944.

Dr. Thurston lived in California and served his surgical residence and practiced medicine in Colorado before moving to St. Maries in 1957.

He was a partner in the St. Joe Valley Clinic, retiring in 1984.

During his retirement he practiced medicine part time in Newport and Tekoa, Wash., and Plummer, Idaho. He also practiced at St. Maries Family Medicine.

He was an avid reader who enjoyed searching for wisdom. He also enjoyed woodworking, welding, fishing and camping.

He was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church and the Kiwanis Club in St. Maries. He was also a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Association, the KootenaiBenewah Medical Society and the St. Maries Elks Lodge. He was a board member of the St. Joe Development Foundation,.

He was past president and Family Physician of the Year in 1982 of the Idaho Academy of Family Physicians.

His wife died in 1990.

Survivors include three sons, Bob Thurston of Sandpoint, Bill Thurston of Palouse, Wash., and Rich Thurston of St. Maries; two daughters, Kay Cowin and Kathy Martin, both of St. Maries; a brother, W.W. “Bill” Thurston of Phoenix, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.

Kenneth McCain Spokane

Service for Kenneth Earl McCain, 72, is set for 10 a.m. Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Spokane Stake Center. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Bentley, Kan., Mr. McCain, died Monday.

He was a B-24 pilot and began flying as a sergeant and was eventually promoted to the rank of flight officer and then major. He retired as a major in 1963.

Following his retirement from the Air Force, he worked for Investors Diversified Services for 10 years.

He had lived in Spokane for 35 years.

Mr. McCain was a member of the Manito Ward Moose Lodge and the Retired Officers Association.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Holman McCain; three sons, Kenneth McCain of Boise, Dennis McCain of Kennewick and Marvin McCain of Pullman; one daughter, Marianne Lybbert of Grand Rapids, Mich.; three brothers, Wesley and Raymond McCain, both of Wichita, Kan., and Elvin Doane of Twin Oaks, Fla.; five sisters, Jeannette Kindsbater of Dallas, Nevella Peitz of Reno, Nev., Phyllis Wagner of Evanston, Ind., Joan Renfro of Augusta, Kan., and Anne Lee of Santa Ana, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.

Reba Lillengreen Davenport, Wash.

Service for Reba Lillengreen, 87, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Reardan (Wash.) Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Strate Funeral Home in Davenport is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Creston, Wash., Mrs. Lillengreen died Tuesday.

She graduated from high school in Creston and from Spokane University.

Mrs. Lillengreen, a homemaker, and her husband, Ray, moved to Reardan in 1948. He died in 1976.

She was a member of the Reardan Senior Citizens and a charter member of the Hassie Club.

Survivors include one son, Paul Lillengreen of Edwall, Wash.; one brother, Raymond Cox of Spokane; three sisters, Rachel Blackshaw of Cheney, Gladys Pershall of Vale, Ore., and Esther Edwards of Grangeville, Idaho; two grandsons and two greatgranddaughters.

Elnora Murch Spokane

Service for Elnora M. Murch, 81, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Burial will be at Riverside Memorial Park.

Mrs. Murch, who died Sunday, was born in Cut Bank, Mont.

She moved to Spokane in 1929 and lived here until 1954 when she moved to Coos Bay, Ore. She returned to Spokane in 1974.

She had worked as an institutional cook at Edgecliff Hospital/Sanatorium and Deaconess Hospital. She retired in 1972.

She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge.

Her husband, Harry Murch, died in 1978.

Mrs. Murch is survived by two daughters, Viana Gervais and Juanita Williams, both of Spokane; one brother, Earl Boothe of Tacoma; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Lawrence ‘Fritz’ Miller Spokane

Service for Lawrence A. “Fritz” Miller, 77, was held Wednesday at Wilbur (Wash.) Lutheran Church. Burial was at the Wilbur Cemetery.

Mr. Miller, who was born in Wilbur, died Sunday.

He worked as a pipe fitter for orchardists in the Methow Valley and served in the Army during World War II.

Following the war he worked on the family farm and retired after 35 years. He and his wife, Margaret, then moved to Wilbur.

He was a member of Wilbur Lutheran Church, the Washington State Grange and the Wilbur Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Miller; one son, Michael Miller of Wilbur; one daughter, Laurie Rumburg of Deer Park; one brother, Edgar Miller of Kennewick; one sister, Lillian George of Spokane; and four grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wilbur Ambulance or the Wilbur Swimming Pool Fund.

Ruby Mortensen Spokane

Graveside service for Ruby Alice Mortensen, 90, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of local arrangements.

Mrs. Mortensen died Sunday in Redlands, Calif., where she had recently moved.

She was born in Illinois.

She moved to Marshall, Wash., with her husband, Tage, and worked at Eastern State Hospital.

She was a member of the Danish Sisterhood Lodge of America, Princess Marie Lodge 117, and Four Corners Grange.

Her husband died in 1991.

She is survived by four daughters, Sandra Carr of Yucaipa, Calif.; Mitzi Mortensen of Marshall, Sonja Abate of Lake Bluff, Ill., and Karen Engle of Spokane; one son, John Mortensen of Loma Linda, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Darwin Egan Spokane

Memorial service for Darwin E. Egan, 78, a retired Air Force master sergeant, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Egan, a 31-year Spokane resident, died Friday.

He was born in Portland.

Mr. Egan served in the Air Force for 26 years and had served in World War II and the Korean War.

He was active in the Silver Sams RV Club.

He is survived by his wife, Florence Egan; three sons, Michael Egan, Shaun Egan of Omaha, Neb., and Stephen Egan of Portland; two daughters, Patricia Grise of Seattle and Susan Egan of Portland; one stepdaughter, Mary Bausch of Bend, Ore.; one sister, Harriet Helt of Wilsonville, Ore.; and 11 grandchildren.
