Valley Girls Softball Teams Protecting Perfect Records

First results of Valley Girls Softball League season are in, and several teams have perfect records. Among them is 12-Under team Mary Lou’s Ice Cream whose Erica Gunderson struck out 11 in two games. In Garco Construction’s opener, a 23-16 win over Custom Muffler, Andrea Manos went 5-for-5 and drove in 12 runs. Melanie Thomas was 4-for-5 hitting and Randi Leuthold drove in six runs and helped pitch a one-hitter.

Rivercity Remnants pitcher Melissa Julian struck out nine batters in three innings to beat D & W Tire 19-6. A trio of hitters, Laura Jackson, Annalee Wilson and Heidi Bunkowske all were 3-for-3 with three runs batted in.

Girls fastpitch teams one-two

Two Valley teams from the Spokane Girls Fastpitch Association recently swept top honors in an invitational tournament in Helena. The Valley Villains won the 16-under event over the Diamond Magic, 6-3, to end the tournament with a 5 win, 1 loss record. The Magic were 4-2.
