Jury Convicts Man In Murder Of Tourist

Compiled From Wire Services

A man was convicted of murder Thursday for running over a German tourist in a robbery after the woman had gotten lost in her rental car on the way from the airport.

Barbara Meller-Jensen’s 6-year-old son watched as robbers bumped the car to get her to stop, grabbed her purse when she got out and crushed her skull with their fleeing car in 1993.

A jury convicted Leroy Rogers, 25, of first-degree murder and robbery. He faces a possible life sentence.

Another man also is on trial in the case.
