Kidnap, Chase End In Fatal Head-On Crash
A man who didn’t want to break up with his girlfriend kidnapped her and slammed head-on into another car at about 130 mph as police chased him, authorities said.
The girl and the two people in the other car were killed. Carl Ford, 22, was hospitalized in serious condition.
Police believe Ford beat and choked Kimberly Maatta, 17, to the point of unconsciousness, but that she was killed by the highway wreck Saturday, said Detective Danny Navarre.
Ford was to be charged with kidnapping and could be charged with three counts of murder, police Sgt. Howard Williamson said.
Maata had filed a stalking complaint against Ford on Tuesday.
