First Lady Will Write Column, A La Roosevelt

Associated Press

Following in Eleanor Roosevelt’s footsteps, Hillary Rodham Clinton said Monday she will write a syndicated column to share “some of the funny stories and some of the momentous events” of White House life.

Addressing the American News Women’s Club in the East Room, the first lady said she will take no money for the weekly column, which will be distributed starting July 23 by Creators Syndicate.

“I think it’s going to be, for me, interesting to try to … talk about issues that I know are on people’s mind and also share with people some of what does go on here.”

Eleanor Roosevelt shared her experiences and spoke frankly on current issues in her daily “My Day” column distributed to hundreds of papers during and after her husband’s White House stay.
