Idaho Educators Honored For Excellence In Teaching

Cynthia Roeder, a teacher at McDonald Elementary, Moscow, Idaho, and Kaye Kamp, a teacher at Seltice Elementary in Post Falls, have been chosen as Idaho’s Presidential Awardees in Excellence in Teaching Mathematics and Science.

Lewis Kramp, Spokane, recently graduated from the University of Louisville, Ky., with a doctorate in dental medicine.

David Walter, Spokane, recently graduated from Cameron University, Lawton, Okla., with a bachelor of science degree.

The following students were named to the winter semester honor roll at Ricks College, Rexburg, Idaho: Leslie Spencer, Colfax, Wash.; Alisha Miller, Mead; Lisa Deehr, Mark Eastham, Nathan Fox, Paul Jorgenson, Kathryn Larson, Julie Nebeker, Landon Rasmussen, J.J. Schlerf and Celeste Scott, all of Spokane.

Dawni Pietz, Spokane, has received a $752 Washington Award for Vocational Excellence scholarship at Western Washington University.

Jared Pankey, manager of McDonald’s on the South Hill, earned a bachelor of hamburgerology degree from McDonald’s Hamburger University in its advanced operations course.

Three Inland Northwest students have won scholarships to the National Competition of Dance Educators of America next month in Las Vegas:

Stephanie Underwood received a perfect score of 300 to win the High Overall Score - Solo award. She will be a senior at Mead High School in the fall.

Krissy Farrow and Kelly Fuller each won first-place awards in the Junior Duo Division and high overall score for their division. Both are students at Northwood Junior High; Farrow will be in the seventh grade next fall, and Fuller, the eighth grade.

Farrow and Fuller also took firstplace awards and high overall score for Accelerated Advanced Tap - Duo at the recent regional Dance Magic Competition.

Charlynn Hull, Pasco, a recent senior cadet graduate at Gonzaga University, has received the Daughters of the American Revolution ROTC Medal for demonstrating qualities of dependability, good character, adherence to military discipline and leadership ability.

She has been assigned to the Signal Corps.

Brian Soligon, a 1992 graduate of Gonzaga Prep., was recognized by his fraternity, Alpha Tau Omega, during Mom’s Weekend at Washington State University with the Mike Takemura Inspirational Award and the Most Outstanding Junior Award. He is president of ATO.

He was also awarded a Certificate of Excellence in Leadership by the WSU’s Residence Life Leadership Development Center.

Soligon is majoring in business management.

Denise Tran, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Habbestad, Spokane, was named to the Dean’s List for the first two trimesters at Chatham Hall, Chatham, Va.
