Taiwan Police Seize Pirated Video Games

Compiled From Wire Services

Five employees of a company producing pirated Nintendo video games were arrested in what police called the largest seizure ever of such goods in Taiwan.

Police said the seized products, worth 20 million Taiwan dollars ($740,740), were found during a raid on a factory of the Chunteng Co. in a Taipei suburb on Monday.

The company is believed to have been in operation for at least two years and most of its goods were to be sold in the Southeast Asian market, police said.

The suspects face charges of forgery and piracy of intellectual property rights, punishable by up to three years in prison.
