Airport Passenger Traffic Climbs 17%

From Staff And Wire Reports

Total passenger activity at Spokane International Airport continued its long trend of growth during January.

Airport officials reported Tuesday that passenger activity was up 17 percent over January 1994. Air cargo shipments rose 6 percent during the month.

“Our continued success and growth can largely be attributed to the increased competition resulting from the low air fares offered by our air carriers,” said John Morrison, chief executive officer and executive director of Spokane Airports.

Morrison said the growth at Spokane International Airport is expected to continue with the addition of America West routes to Spokane later this year and Southwest Airlines’ route expansions.

At Felts Field, air cargo was up 59 percent in January over January 1994. General aviation traffic was down 1.7 percent.

Flight operations at Felts field were off by 2.8 percent. Total operations were up 2.5 percent at Spokane International.
