District I All-Star Games Provide Chance For Revenge

The Bonners Ferry High School boys basketball team may finally get a measure of revenge against Intermountain League rival Kellogg.

Sort of.

Bonners Ferry seniors Kris Gravelle, Gavin Glindeman and Benson LaRue will play for the West All-Star team while Kellogg’s Travis Fulton, Derek Jennings and Chris Nielsen will play for the East All-Star team in the 10th annual District I all-star boys and girls games Friday at Mullan Athletic Pavilion.

Kellogg defeated Bonners Ferry three out of four games this year, including the district title game and the state consolation championship game.

The festivities in the event tip off Friday night, with the girls game at 6:15. The boys will follow at about 8. Admission is $4 for adults and $3 for students and seniors.

Teams are made up of seniors from the 15 high schools in the Panhandle. U.S. Highway 95 is used as the dividing line to determine the all-star teams.

Darick Pope of Post Falls and Jennifer Kerns of Lake City were invited to play but will miss the games because of previous commitments, Mullan athletic director John Drager said. Lake City’s Bryan Kelly also was scheduled to play, but a broken finger will sideline him.

Three-point shooting contests will be held at halftime of both games and a slamdunk contest will also be featured for the boys.

Two $100 scholarships will be given to the outstanding boys and girls players.
