Hutton Settlement Board Names Officers For New Term
The Hutton Settlement board of trustees has named its new officers:
Jo Ann Nielsen, has accepted her third term as president; Regina Manser, first vice president; Carole Walker, second vice president; Marion Phillips, recording secretary; Carol Wilson, treasurer; Evelyn Morgan, corresponding secretary; Catherine Bernhard and Helen Hamblen, assistant corresponding secretaries; and Karen Damon, assistant secretary-treasurer.
Rom Markin, dean of the College of Business and Economics at Washington State University, has been appointed to the Washington Economic Development Finance Authority by Gov. Mike Lowry. He has been dean since 1980 and joined the WSU faculty in 1961.
The 17-member authority assists Washington businesses with their capital needs. The committee issues taxable non-recourse revenue bonds for the benefit of eligible Washington companies. The bonds are sold on the open market and not backed by the state.
Donell Barlow, a sophomore at Ferris High School, has been selected as a member of Northwest Basketball Camp’s girls tour team to the British Isles. She is a member of the junior varsity team and is active in the Multicultural Club. An acolyte at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church and involved in the youth group, she is the daughter of Don Barlow, Spokane.
Sherman Alexie has received the Washington State University Alumni Achievement Award. He was recognized as “an internationally acclaimed author and Native American lecturer.” He has published five books of fiction and poetry. Alexie is a 1994 graduate of WSU and lives in Seattle.
David Engen, son of Dr. Darwin Engen, Spokane, has been named to the 1995 edition of Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. He is a first-year student at the School of Dentistry at Indiana UniversityPurdue University, Indianapolis.
Jennifer Boston, daughter of John and Susan Boston, Mica, is currently studying pediatric nursing in Mexico for seven weeks. She is a 1991 graduate of Freeman High School and is a student at Ricks College, Rexburg, Idaho. She is an honor student and has been listed in Who’s Who Among American College Students.
