Fashion Show Aids Junior League

Kathryn Delong Staff writer

While St. Patrick’s Day revelers paraded by outside, a parade of a different stripe was happening inside the Crescent Court last weekend.

It was all part of Nordstrom’s spring fashion show benefiting the Junior League of Spokane. The event raised more than $11,000 for the league’s community programs.

Models paraded down the runway in everything from swimsuits to evening wear during Saturday’s sold-out event. The lively presentation included a salute to navy and white - often with touches of gold - which appeared in several ensembles from the St. John Collection.

Neutrals were celebrated with shades of taupe, brown and peach, including an outstanding shortsleeved coat dress in beige by Kasper. Neutrals paired with black made for a stunning combination.

Tired of subtlety? Go for color, and lots of it in a hot pink and navy knit suit by Christian Dior, or a coral suede silk blazer, vest and wrap skirt by Studio 121.

Or you could just whisper your love of color with pale yellow, pale pink or light blue.

For pure class, you can’t beat the black and white looks by Liz Claiborne Dresses, Christian Dior, Kasper and other designers. Some were topped with statementmaking black hats.

All of the evening dresses were in black, ranging from short and flared to long and sleek.
