Clemson dropped its wrestling program today, saying the school could not make a long-term commitment to the sport because of a dwindling budget.

The university would allow wrestlers to talk with other schools about transferring. According to NCAA rules, any wrestlers switching schools would be eligible immediately since Clemson has dropped the sport.

The NAIA has picked Tri-State University, located in Angola, Ind., to be site of it 1996 and 1997 Division II women’s basketball national championships.

The tourney has been held at Western Oregon State in Monmouth the past four years.
